Baby Blanket® Suncare UVF Protective Flaphat 50+ UPF will protect your baby's head and neck with UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) and complies with AS/NZS 4299:196. This UPF rating is for the fabric and does not address the amount of protection which is afforded by the design of the article. The manipulations involved in garment manufacture such as stretching and sewing may lower the UPF of the material. Articles which have been designed to cover the maximum area of the body are recommended. The protection offered by this item may be lessened: 1.) at points which the fabric is in close contact with the skin such as the shoulders; 2.) if the fabric is stretched 3.) if the fabric is wet; 4.) with time, due to the effects of normal wear.
Ultraviolet radiation or UV, is present in sunlight. Sunburn is a sign that your skin has received too much UV. Overexposure to UV over many years can cause more serious problems such as skin cancer or cataracts. Garments that are sensibly designed for sun protection reduce your UV exposure.
It is often difficult to tell if fabric offers good sun protection. The UPF shows how well a fabric protects your skin from solar UV and lets you select sun protective clothing with confidence. Remember that the garment only protects the skin it cover. Protect other sites by wearing a hat (Baby Blanket Flaphats), sunglasses (Baby Blanket Sun Protectors Sunglasses), and Baby BLanket sunscreen and use shaded outdoor areas. UPF ratings range from 15 to 50. Fabrics that rate higher than 50 are labeled as UPF 50+.
